Defense attorney Lee Davis emailed the newspaper, saying McConnell was grateful to grand jurors for allowing him to testify before the investigative body, noting that is rare. Police charged McConnell with aggravated sexual battery after a patron at a restaurant took cellphone video of him rubbing the leg of a 5-year-old girl who was sitting on his lap.
