A reconnaissance aircraft found a fully formed tropical storm in the Bay of Campeche this afternoon, and Helene has accordingly been named. In its official forecast track the National Hurricane Center does not believe Helene has a significant chance of moving back over the Gulf after coming inland, and therefore there appears to be little threat to the upper Texas coast from this system. If this forecast is correct it would mean we would see lower rain chances next week, however, a significant chance of rain for The Valley region would remain.
